Jewel-box cafe nestled just behind SFMoMA in a 1925 Art Moderne terra-cotta-clad high-rise that was, at the time, the tallest skyscraper in San Francisco. The gold-leaf painting above the bar was inspired by the murals at Kyoto's Nijo-jo Castle, originally dating to 1626. (Note: these do not date to 1626, although they are lovely.) Pair your ogling with the matcha einspänner.
